5-24-08  Lake George Amazonite Field Trip to Joe Dorris Claims.

The day started off as a bright and sunny one with a almost nonexistent wind.

NOTE CLICK ON PICTURE TO VIEW (SORRY THUMBNAIL VIEWS ARE NOT WORKING .

Well its now time to go into the site and meet Joe Dorris at the Pinnacle mine to start our
So lets park at the club claim and wait for him to tell of the forgoing days adventure
Joe really is a fine artist and those drawings In the dirt did tell us the areas we could search
It seems that Joe took us to places a billy goat couldn’t go and told us to go on over the hill and start looking while he took Steve to the active mining area where his plan was to prepare a couple of vaults for us to see
You mean that little scar will become a big specimen(wait till we get it exposed)
"Oops it broke off, but I will put it in the box to take to the lab and process( pretty good plate though , needs cleaning"
Yeah I think that wall over there will have a couple of plates worth showing to the club.
That’s right son just dig there and when the club comes over here it will show how the commercialacquisition of Amazonite is done
The guys are back form the active mine -- Humm? How you doing
Wow you really got those smokeys just scratching around
My goshThem rockhounders are everywhere
And as usual them little guys always make the first really great find of the day
OK lets go over to the active Mine and see what Joe has unearthed
You guessed it that digger sure is bigger than my little hand trowel
See I told ya the big machine would get us there
that’s Joe with the hard hat showing us one of the plates he unearthed.
This is neat stuff “Joe can I keep it?”
“ You sure can.”
THANKS!!!!!
Various pieces of the amazonite
Some of the smokeys
Note the indents from missing crystal points
who gets to keep that boxof goodies?
That’s it see you SUNDAY June 14 Le Vita Pass-fossils and KT layer
